Call for Entries
Airless és Egyéb Szórástechnika Kft. as organiser and the Hungarian National Guild of Painters, Decorators and Paperhangers (SZMTOI) as professional coordinator – Hungary's largest professional community in painting and spray technology – announce the most prestigious competition of the Hungarian painting trade. Painter of the Year is for professionals who deliver the highest quality in their everyday work and are ready to have their work assessed by a professional jury.

Who can enter?
The competition is open to all painters, decorators and paperhangers, contractors and professional teams who carried out the entered work themselves. Entry is free of charge.
- One entrant may compete in several categories
- Within a category, each entrant may submit one work
- Only work carried out by the entrant or by a team led by the entrant may be entered
- The work must have been completed within the period specified in the call for entries, and work that has already won an award in a previous year may not be entered again
Categories
The competition names winners in four categories:
- Interior painting – interior surface finishing, painting, lacquering, wallpapering
- Facade painting – facade surface finishing: thermal insulation, decorative render, facade painting, renovation
- Decorative painting work – ornamental painting, marbling, decorative skimming
- Painting of wood and metal surfaces – windows and doors, timber structures, surface protection and decorative coatings of metal and steel structures
Step one: registration
As a first step, applicants need to complete a simple registration. After registering, we will notify you when the entry platform opens.
What do you need to submit?
Your entry should tell the story of the work on its own, to a high standard: where it started, what technical solutions you used and the quality of the finished surface.
Mandatory elements
- Completed entry form (as part of the online form – we will let you know where and from when it is available)
- Photo documentation: the condition before work started, in-progress photos and the finished surface
- Detailed technical description: the initial condition of the surface, the coating system applied, materials and technology, the technical solutions and duration of the work
- Consent to the use of the photos of the work for competition purposes
How to enter
Registration and entry are free of charge.
The entire process takes place on evfestoje.hu – there is no need to send anything by e-mail or to register anywhere else.
- Register on evfestoje.hu: enter your contact details and create an account.
- Choose the category or categories you would like to enter.
Submitting your entry
- Fill in the entry form, upload the photos and complete the technical description
- Check and finalise your completed entry.
- Until the entry deadline, you can edit and add to your documentation at any time in your own account
How do we assess?
Professional jury
The jury is made up of practising master painters, vocational instructors and representatives of the trade's professional organisations. The jury members are introduced on evfestoje.hu. Assessment criteria:
- Quality of workmanship – the technical standard of the surface
- Technological suitability – the professionalism of the coating system, the choice of materials and the technology applied
- Degree of difficulty – the complexity of the task and the significance of the technical problems solved
- Overall aesthetic impression – the appearance and proportions of the finished work and how well it fits the space
- Documentation – based on the written description submitted, the professional content of the work process and the standard of the technical solutions applied
Audience vote
After the entry deadline, the entries are published on evfestoje.hu, where anyone can vote for their favourite. The audience vote results in a separate special award and does not influence the jury's decision.
Awards
In every category we announce first, second and third place.
Terms of participation
- By entering, the entrant declares that the submitted work was carried out by them and that they hold the necessary rights to the images used.
- The organiser is entitled to use the submitted photos and descriptions to promote the competition, stating the entrant's name.
- The organiser may return incomplete entries, or entries that do not meet the call for entries, for completion.
- The jury's decision is final and not subject to appeal.
- The handling of personal data is governed by the evfestoje.hu privacy notice.
